I recently came across a website name Fiverr, a platform to help you look for services like web development, mobile apps development, design, , video, music, jingle composing, writing & many more services with the start of USD5.

It’s like the USD5 bucks shop, Fiverr platform will find contractor provides you service that start USD5, or you can say USD5 as the minimal charge, catchy?

From browsing through the service, not all services can be completed at USD5. Some offer USD5/day, USD5/hour. Top up another USD5 to get a quicker deliver, add another USD5 to get extra hand to complete the work sooner.

It’s like an ala-carte menu, which I found interesting. Can browse and take a look on Fiverr website.
The post Interesting Services on Fiverr first appeared on /var/logs/paulooi.log.

Loaded a new theme for a new start. I’ve not been writing (I try not to use blogging) for a while, previously I write because of trying to make some small incoming from Google Adsense, and recently my 12 years old Google Adsense has been disabled by Googl. Why was it disabled? I am too kind to lend my account to a friend and Google found the website that hosted the adsense code on fraud click website. It’s a little disappointed the account has been disabled, mainly because the account has been opened since 12 years ago. I also read once it’s disabled it’s for life you are not allow to open/register an account with Google.

Well, I see it as a good sign, I don’t really use it to generate income since many years ago, the clicks I got almost 2 years unable to reach USD100 for payout Good as in I can write freely as I want, instead of taking care of the SEO’s friendliness criteria.

Previously I am still using Kubrick theme, it was due to the laziness. Laziness to generate new relocate and generate adsense code. New theme, new start, reborn of the writing.
The post Finally, a new Theme first appeared on /var/logs/paulooi.log.

For the past few days, I’ve been searching solution to solve the “USB Device Not Recognized” error in Windows 6 64 bits with HTC One M7 phone; what really annoyed me is, the HTC One M7 connected in Mac OSX without any problem, we can do ADB devices or Fastboot command without any fail.

But, when the phone connected to Windows 7 machine, it said “USB Device Not Recognized”. After battling with restarting the machine, install and uninstall HTC Sync Manager Software, or HTC Phone driver.. It still not working as expected. I decided to leave it aside and do what I should do in OSX environment.

After fixing some issue on the phone, I still cannot accept the problem happened in Windows 7 machine (Being an engineer with the never give up hat), I decided to give another try and find out the problem; and the problem solved.

I never thought it could be the cable problem, because it worked well in Mac OSX. Until I couldn’t figure any solution, I tried change the USB cable… Boom! Problem solved.

How pathetic it’s? Spending so much time tangling with the software, but in the end is the cable problem. At least, it’s working now.

Uh… Why am I still using USB to connect? I was trying to unroot the phone. Will share the post on How to unroot HTC One M7 and make it looks like a “stock” phone.

Bloody Cable! or Maybe Windows problem

I am running Windows 7 on my Mac via VMWare Fusion. There are not many programs running in the Windows 7 VM, it’s just for the purpose of Ms Project, Ms Office, and some other scripting stuff. No data and file saved in the VM too, I didn’t really bother about the disk space utilization until my 250G SSD is running out of space.

After checking virtual machine VM image sizing, then only I realize the Windows 7 VM is utilizing 57G+ of space! That’s quite a lot!

Searching through the Windows 7 folder, find out the folder taken most of the space is C:\Users\user\AppData\Local, a total is 11G+

How to clean it up? It’s not safe to remove the data in the folder “Local” by “Delete” button, the “proper” way of cleaning this up the space is via a program called Disk Cleanup Tools. The program can be found via the search panel at “Windows Start” panel, search for “Disk Cleanup”

When the program is launched, select those files you think you don’t need it from the check box. I selected all, temporary files took up the most, after finding out those files are windows update and installation temp files, usually it’s store there, most of the time it’s not needed anymore. It’s best you look through the folder and keep those file you needed, another method if you can backup to some other drive, just in case there are drivers needed reuse during program installation.

After Spring Cleaning, it’s now..

Yep…34G+, I got another 20G of space to spare for other stuffs.
The post Cleaning Disk Space on Windows 7 first appeared on /var/logs/paulooi.log.

At approximately 3pm PST, the Syrian Electronic Army seemingly hacked into Twitter, Huffington Post and NY Times’ registry accounts altering contact details, and more significantly, DNS records. Modifying DNS records of a domain will allow SEA to redirect visitors to any site of their choosing.

Contact details for the Twitter.com domain were changed, but it’s reasonable to assume that if the SEA had the ability to change contact information, they may very well have had the ability to change DNS records and point the Twitter.com domain elsewhere, redirecting visitors and users.

The SEA also altered the DNS records for twimg.com which Twitter uses for virtually all CSS, JS, images, cookies and more. This means for many users, Twitter.com wouldn’t load correctly and avatars were unavailable across many Twitter clients.

Micosoft has issued a statement today announcing that Steve Ballmer will retire as Micosoft’s CEO 12 months from now.

Ballmer says, “There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time. We have embarked on a new strategy with a new organization and we have an amazing Senior Leadership Team. My original thoughts on timing would have had my retirement happen in the middle of our company’s transformation to a devices and services company. We need a CEO who will be here longer term for this new direction.”

So, what will be up next as Microsoft’s CEO?

Most developers and coder are using external display monitor to gain better view and enhance multitasking flexibilities at work. It’s very common now and some developer even have dual external display monitors, which get greater multitasking.

How to display or move the Dock and Menu bar to external display monitor as the main display on apple mac os x?

By default, OS X docking is located at the bottom of the screen, if can be changed to locate it on top, left or right of the display by user’s preference. If you want to extend docking and menu bar to external monitor as main display, here is the configuration via Mac OS X System Preferences.

Go to System Preferences > Display, as the picture shown below

Select Arrangement, you can see the white bar on top at the displays, simply move it left or right to difference display/monitor.

Enable Display setting at menu bar to configure it at few clicks away. At Display preference, check “Show displays in menu bar”

On menu bar you will see a “screen” icon, click on it and get faster access to Display Preferences
